Still Ground was born out of a deep appreciation for the places, traditions, and stories that shape us—and a desire to preserve them for generations to come.

In 2019, after my granny’s cousin, Clarence, passed away at the age of 97, my grandparents purchased his farm in northern Wisconsin. For decades, Clarence has welcomed anyone who wanted to climb aboard his horse-drawn sleigh and experience the quiet beauty of winter. He never did it as a business. He simply loved sharing the land he called home.

Rather than letting that legacy disappear, my grandparents chose to preserve it.

Together, we restored the early-1900s farmhouse, carefully maintaing its character while transforming the property into an Airbnb, a maple syrup farm, and eventually a sleigh ride business that carried on the tradition Clarence had begun.

I hade the priviledge of helping manage the business and tell its story through photography.

One winter, I brought my camera on a sleigh ride to capture a few images for our marketing. Visitors began asking if they could purchase the photographs as greeting cards, and before long, those cards were finding their way into homes across our community.

Looking back, I can that the heart of Still Ground was already taking shape.

Since then, my camera has traveled with me across the country, but the way I photograph has never really changed. Before I ever lift the camera, I try to pause long enough to notice the beauty of a place—to experience it before ever attempting to preserve it.

Still Ground exists to preserve the places, moments, and stories that shape our lives—and invite others to notice them, too.

My hope is that every photograph and every paper good becomes more than something beautiful to own. I hope it serves as a gentle invitation to notice the beauty around you, embrace the goodness woven throughout God’s creation, and linger a little longer in the moments that become memoreis.

May these pieces become quiet reminders that the things which shape us are worth noticing, sharing, and preserving.
